Lakeway City Council granted a one-year short-term rental permit Nov. 21 for a four-bedroom home on Edgewater Cove inside the city boundaries.
The owners, Peter and Susan McLaughlin, will employ a professional management company that uses an extensive screening process and noise monitors to ensure they “continue to [be in] good grace with [their] neighbors,” Susan McLaughlin said at the meeting.
The permit is renewable after one year from the date of granting.
“This is new for us,” said Susan McLaughlin. “I like that it is a one-year trial for us.”
She said the couple have not previously offered their home as an STR.
Council Member Keith Trecker said he was concerned the houses in the area are situated close together and cautioned the applicants to be careful about noise and the lack of parking.
The city of Lakeway approved an STR policy earlier this year.
