Due to possible heavy rains on Saturday, the city of Frisco has rescheduled its tree lighting ceremony for today at 6 p.m. Mayor Pro Tem Will Sowell will lead the countdown to the tree lighting.
“We made the decision to avoid the heavy rain forecast for this Saturday,”Director of Parks and Recreation Rick Wieland said in a statement. “ Residents and visitors are already enjoying the choreographed light show in Frisco Square. This way, our residents can enjoy our traditional tree lighting without the rain.”
Because of the rainy forecast, the city will host a ‘Mini’ Merry Main Street from 5- 8 p.m. this Saturday. Any activities that can be held indoors will be held inside City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd. All outdoor activities are cancelled.
Children will still be able to visit and take pictures with Santa Claus inside City Hall. Mrs. Claus will be serving cookies.
“Merry Main Street has been a holiday staple in Frisco for 26 years,” Wieland said. “We’re looking forward to continuing that tradition, despite scaling it down a bit due to the very wet forecast.”
