Citing structural concerns, Austin ISD canceled school today, Nov. 4, at T.A. Brown Elementary School. Engineers and district Superintendent Paul Cruz will respond to questions from the media at an event this afternoon. An engineer assessing the district's facilities as part of its master plan process deemed the 59-year-old school, at 505 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, to have structural issues, according to a district news release. It is unclear how long the school will be affected by the structural concerns. Brown Principal Veronica Sharp sent a letter to parents stating that the school community would be kept apprised of any updates. "We are working quickly to identify the best alternative for T.A. Brown Elementary School students in the long term," Sharp's letter reads. "We will keep you updated and informed of developments."
