Airport Road could soon be widened from a two lanes to a four-lane roadway with a continuous center turn lane between Lakeway Drive and Halmar Cove. Georgetown City Council approved a $579,710 contract for engineering design, surveying and construction administrative services with Georgetown-based Kasberg, Patrick, & Associates during the council’s Tuesday meeting. The project will also realign the Airport and Lakeway intersection and make it more accessible for drivers. Additionally, the project will include designs for a traffic signal at the intersection. Wright said funding for the contract will come from the Georgetown Transportation Enhancement Corp. budget. The improvements could help with economic development in the area, which Wright said is prime for development.
