1. Cy-Fair ISD will hold its October board meeting Monday.
    The CFISD board of trustees will meet for their regular board meeting Monday night. The board will vote on a variety of topics including CFISD’s legislative priorities for the upcoming session. Take a look at what CFISD will be pushing for here.

  2. The deadline to register to vote is tomorrow.
    Residents of Harris County have one day left to register to vote in the Nov. 8 election. Voters can register online, through the mail or in person. Here are other dates to know about the 2016 election.

  3. National Fire Prevention Week takes place this week.
    National Fire Prevention Week takes place from Oct. 8-15. The theme of this year’s week is “Don’t Wait—Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.” Check out some fire safety tips here so you can prevent fires in your own home.

  4. Camp Hope hosts its 5th Annual BBQ Cook Off, Oct. 14 and 15.
    The annual fundraiser benefits Camp Hope, a nonprofit organization that provides interim housing and support for veterans affected by post-traumatic stress disorder. The event will take place at the Camp Hope center at 9724 Derrington Road, Houston, from 5-10 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 15. Camp Hope will provide free barbecue, live music, children's activities and silent auctions.

  5. The Renaissance Festival started this weekend.
    This medieval festival takes place from Oct. 8-Nov. 27 on Saturdays and Sundays at 21778 FM 1774, Todd Mission. Each weekend of the festival follows a different theme, including, Pirate Adventure, All Hallows Eve and Barbarian Invasion.
