9th annual Camp Craig Allen amateur BBQ Cook-off & Festival, Oct. 7-8
Seventy-five amateur barbecue teams will compete at the ninth annual barbecue cook-off fundraiser and festival for Camp Craig Allen. The event also includes music, games and entertainment. All proceeds from the event benefit programs and operations at Camp Craig Allen, which helps individuals with physical disabilities and their families. The event begins Oct. 7 with a kickoff party and casino for adults only, and the cook-off will take place Oct. 8.

Disney’s 'The Aristocats' KIDS, Oct. 7-9
The Frisco Youth Theatre presents a Disney classic on stage, “The Aristocats.” In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionaire leaves her inheritance to her cat, Duchess, and her three little kittens. Adventure ensues as the greedy butler attempts to take the inheritance for himself. Now it’s up to rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O’Malley, and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day.

'Me, Myself and I' art exhibit, Oct. 7 and Oct. 9

Frisco Arts Walk, Oct. 8
Presented by Frisco Arts, the first-ever Frisco Arts Walk will take place at Hall Park. The event will feature interactive art performances by Frisco-based nonprofit arts organizations, a pop-up food truck park, a community stage and a children’s area complete with bounce houses, a petting zoo and hands-on activities.

Frisco Starfest, Oct. 8
In conjunction with International Observe the Moon Night, the Texas Astronomical Society will host a star party in Frisco. Members and guests will get together to observe and educate others about planets, stars and other celestial wonders.

Student & Parent Empowerment Program: Parenting in the Social Media Age, Oct. 8
Frisco ISD will host a forum for students in grades K-12 and their parents that will feature Detective Wade Hornsby with the Frisco Police Department Crimes Against Children Unit. Hornsby will address common social media applications, how they are used and how suspects and teenagers often misuse them. The presentation will also address how parents and students can minimize the risk associated with these applications. The legal ramifications of sexting and other online offenses will also be addressed.
