Spokane City Council will still have to confirm the mayor's appointment before it is finalized. The council will likely make a decision in a couple of weeks, Spokane director of communications Brian Coddington said.
Bruce was named as one of four finalists for the position Sept. 16.
Bruce has been with the Frisco Police Department since 1996. Two years later he was promoted to captain and in 2003 he was promoted to assistant chief.
Bruce was named interim chief in October 2012 and chief in February 2013.
