City Council approved a meet-and-confer agreement with the Police Benevolent Association of Georgetown at its Aug. 9 meeting.

The council recognized the association as the sole bargaining agent for the city’s police officers in April.

The agreement outlines employment procedures and grants police officers assurances about certain working conditions, Georgetown Human Resources Director Tadd Phillips said.

The association approved the agreement with a ratification election July 22, when a majority of Georgetown police officers voted in favor of the agreement.
