The total number of Frisco mosquito pools that have tested positive for West Nile virus has reached 24 as six more pools were found to have the virus.
The city will spray the affected areas from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Aug. 6 and 7. No human cases of the virus have been confirmed. Click

The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed 24 cases of either West Nile fever or West Nile neuroinvasive disease in Texas so far this year. Five of those cases were confirmed in Collin and Denton counties. TDSHS recommends following four steps to avoid mosquitos:
- Wear insect repellent containing DEET.
- Drain standing water.
- Wear long sleeves and pants at dusk and dawn.
- Use air conditioning, and secure windows and screens.
