Update 10:49 a.m., March 2 With all precincts reporting, Republican Michael A. Truitt keeps the Denton County constable, precinct 2 seat with 80.06 percent of the votes. Opponent Hal Grant garnered 19.94 percent of the votes. Truitt has no Democratic challenger in the November General Election. All results are unofficial until canvassed. Posted at 7:24 p.m., March 1 According to March 1 unofficial early voting results, Michael A. Truitt is leading the race for the Denton County Precinct 2 constable seat with 80.41 percent of the vote, or 4,387 votes. Grant has 19.59 percent of the vote, or 1,069 votes. Both Truitt and Grant are Republican candidates with no Democratic challenger and the winner of the Republican primary will win the election. All results are unofficial until canvassed. Truitt started his law-enforcement career in Austin as a dispatcher in 1983 and began working as a constable for Dallas County Precinct 3 in 1986. He was appointed constable for Denton County Precinct 2 in 2005. Grant also ran for the constable position in 2012 and believes in focusing on youth development. If elected, Grant plans to focus on the county community in order to reduce crime in the precinct.
