Beginning in the 2016-17 school year, Nike will be the exclusive athletic apparel brand for Frisco ISD.

FISD board of trustees approved the five-year contract with Nike that will provide uniforms and equipment to all high schools and middle schools.

The contract is first of its kind for FISD in which they have chosen a company to provide the apparel for the entire district, said Richard Wilkinson, FISD assistant superintendent of business services.

FISD director of finance Todd Fouche said Nike will provide all eight high schools with one complete set of varsity home uniforms for all players and one away jersey for the upcoming school year.

Over the five-year period, the contract totals $1.74 million in product and product savings, not cash. Fouche said the district will receive 40 percent off retail pricing compared with 30 percent the district is already receiving when purchasing from Nike.

According to the contract, Nike will allocate $100,000 annually in marketing promotion over the term of this agreement.

FISD Superintendent said while Nike partners with many school districts, there is a high level of interest for companies to partner with FISD because of the partnership between the city of Frisco and The Ford Center at The Star.

“Our goal is to craft partnerships that provide better opportunities for our students,” Lyon said.
