City Council approved a contract with the Denton County Transit Authority on Dec. 1 to provide on-demand transit service for elderly or disabled residents.
The contract replaces the one with the financially troubled Texoma Area Paratransit System. The TAPS contract expired Dec. 1, and DCTA began providing services for residents the same day.
The transit services are available for medical care-related purposes to residents older than age 65 or who have a disability.
Riders have to schedule service at least 24 hours in advance, and the fare rates are the same as those charged by TAPS for the time being.
The term of the contract is for one year.
The services will take riders within the cities of Frisco, McKinney and Allen.
