Lone Star Ace Hardware
Greg Farrell and his wife, Tammy, opened Lone Star Ace Hardware in 2008, and it is still going strong today.
The business offers a variety of hardware items, such as electrical lighting equipment, and hand and power tools. It also has a gift boutique, which offers baby and bridal gifts as well as jewelry and candles.
Farrell said the boutique was his wife’s idea and is the most unique thing about the hardware store.
“When you see the Ace logo, you think of hardware and plumbing,” he said. You wouldn’t expect to see all these gifts. We sell retail hardware, gifts—we’re a Big Green Egg [barbecue cooker] dealer. Business has been great here.”
Farrell said the store will host its seventh annual Ladies Night on Nov. 12, during which women receive 20 percent off everything in the store and are invited to celebrate the night with wine, food and music. The event kicks off the store’s holiday season.

DJ’s Nails and Spa
DJ’s Nails and Salon opened in 2013 and offers a variety of services, such as nails, eyelash extensions and waxing. The salon is an expansion of JK Nails, another salon owned by Justin Vo.
“We have JK Nails in the Imperial Oaks area, but it was so small, so we decided to expand and open DJ’s Nails and Salon,” he said. “We now have five salons in the Spring area, with this being the only DJs Nails and Salon location.”
Vo said the salon offers beauty treatments for a variety of occasions and follows up on requests from customers for unique nail designs.
“We can do any design you like, any type of crazy nails you want,” he said. “We’ve done it for a variety of occasions. We also post all our new nail designs on Instagram.”
Vo said he is looking forward to opening future salons in the Greater Houston area, especially closer to The Woodlands.
