Lakeline Mall Plaza in Austin is almost fully occupied after two new businesses opened there in September.

Total Wine & More and Dress Barn were drawn to the area because of nearby growing residential communities and the tight Austin retail market, said David Simmonds, principal of plaza manager Retail Solutions.

Lakeline Mall Plaza had dropped to about 82 percent occupancy in 2013, Simmonds said. A lease is pending for one tenant interested in the plaza’s last space—a suite left vacant by Ulta Beauty, he said.

Dress Barn

Women’s clothing retailer Dress Barn opened Sept. 4 at 11066 Pecan Park Blvd., Ste. 207, Austin.

The store was previously located in another suite within Lakeline Mall Plaza near Maurice’s, but that location closed in 2004, store leader Nikki Contreras said.

Scouts from Ascena Retail Group believed housing and business growth in and around the retail center could support the store’s return, Contreras said.

Two of Ascena’s other stores, Maurice’s and Justice, are already open in Lakeline Mall Plaza.

Total Wine & More

On Sept. 17, customers browsed 31,000 square feet of liquors and other items at Total Wine & More’s grand opening event.

The store is located at 11066 Pecan Park Blvd., Ste. 117, and includes walk-in wine and beer coolers, beverage demonstration areas and tasting stations.

The new location includes digital signs and displays as well as a beverage-tasting area.

Cedar Park residents Chip and Sharon Beaudette were also among the store’s first guests. Sharon said they welcomed the store’s arrival to the growing Lakeline Mall Drive retail area.

“Everything [had] closed down, and now there’s re-growth here,” Sharon said.
