At its Sept. 15 meeting, Sunset Valley City Council unanimously approved a budget of nearly $9.3 million for the 2015-16 fiscal year, an increase compared with the previous year. Changes included increasing city staff salaries by a total of $176,839 as well as increasing the general fund contingency fund by $20,000. Total projected revenue totaled $8.1 million; other funds come from sources such as the city’s street tax and green tax. The city does not have a property tax, as much of the city’s funding comes from sales tax, according to budget documents.
