Frisco ISD will open four new schools this year to accommodate for the district’s continued growth.
The four schools to open this year are Reedy High School, Trent Middle School, Pearson Middle School and Norris Elementary School.
FISD is expected to enroll more than 53,000 students this school year, creating the need for more campuses. FISD operates under a small-schools concept, which caps the enrollment at high schools, middle schools and elementary schools to keep the student-to-teacher ratio low.
Each new school is constructed with a similar layout and size to other schools in the district, so every student is receiving the same, familiar experience, said Richard Wilkinson, deputy superintendent for business services.
“With as often as we have to rezone, we want you to know you’re going to get the same quality program and school if you have to move from one location to another,” he said.
