At NWAC’s June 29 meeting, organizer Jimmy Flannigan said Anderson Mill Road is the only major roadway in Northwest Austin not managed by the Texas Department of Transportation.
“This is about starting off what we need to be doing, what other parts of town have been doing for years and years and years,” Flannigan said. “[Planning has] got to be broad, and we need to make sure every neighborhood has a say.”
The study will focus on safety improvements because those are more likely to garner funding, Flannigan said. Feedback from residents at the June 29 NWAC meeting was incorporated into a map available at www.nwaustin.org.
Comments from the meeting included adding a continuous turn lane and another traffic signal as well as addressing a dangerous curve and speeding. Resident Diane Owen said many residents are not able to safely exit or enter their neighborhoods.
“We need to make [the road] safe for pedestrians, traffic and bikes,” she said.
