This year's event is expected to see a significant increase in attendance due to extended event hours; the addition of food trucks, local beer and wine; and a free concert by local musical sensation Le Freak, billed as "The Greatest Disco Band In the World."
In addition, Green Fest Southlake will include interactive activities and entertainment for all ages, fabulous raffle prizes, and a scavenger hunt for elementary students, where the two winners will receive an Apple iPad, donated by Republic Services!
Students Kindergarten through 6th grade are encouraged to participate in the green movement by collecting juice pouches or discarded cell phones for a chance to win an Apple iPad.
Audra Lewandowski, event chair, said, "Last year we collected over 5,000 juice pouches to be upcycled into new products. These juice pouches are not normally recycled, so [they] would just end up in a landfill."
Proceeds from Green Fest Southlake will benefit the programs of the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve in Southlake.
