In light of the recent fire at the Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange's donation station facility in Grapevine, GRACE hosted a community rally Feb. 21, collecting donations.

The fire, which occurred Feb. 12, incurred an estimate of $75,000 in damages of destroyed goods and infrastructure.

Heather Ortner, GRACE marketing and communications manager, said Community Rally was a fitting way to thank those who came to GRACE's aide, share agency updates and accept the item donations supporters held onto while Donation Station was recuperating.

"Since the fire and, more specifically, the Community Rally, we have seen a renewed interest in community engagement, which is invaluable," Ortner said. "People seem to be reenergized to further our mission, and more people have expressed an interest in investing their time and resources through volunteering. It has truly been humbling to see so many businesses and groups have a sincere desire to see us thrive."

Gary Humble, owner of Grapevine Craft Brewery, and his team at GCB were one of the first to take action, launching a matching campaign that generated over $19,000 through www.gofundme.com in less than three days. The proceeds will benefit the GRACE mission and help with fire recovery efforts.
