Growing up in Northwest Austin, I remember when Research Boulevard was a divided highway with stoplights. In those days, RM 620 was a two-lane country road where the incredibly rare traffic jam included livestock or white-tailed deer and going to town was literally an all-day affair. A lot has changed, but what has not changed is a community that cares about each other, wants to be informed and wants to be heard. That is why I am overjoyed to be the new general manager for Community Impact Newspaper in Northwest Austin. As we look forward to the rest of 2015, it will be the honor of our team to keep you informed throughout what is sure to be a monumental year. The 84th Texas Legislature is underway downtown, and the decisions made at the Capitol in the months ahead will directly affect some of the key issues we face in Northwest Austin; traffic congestion being among the most significant. Be sure to read our legislative preview as well as the transportation update for more information. I encourage you to read our updates closely and then contact your local representative and let your voice be heard. We will keep you updated along the way. Also, be sure to check out the monthly calendarfor ideas on how to get involved in the community. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming community events and wish you the very best in 2015.
