The Frisco School of Performing Arts—a sister school to the Frisco School of Music and The Musical Arts Schoolhouse—is nearing completion.
Owner and Executive Director Chris Duncan said the new 7,800-square-foot, two-story studio is on schedule for a soft opening in January and will have its official opening in February, although no exact date has yet been set.
Although its address has not yet been assigned by the U.S. Postal Service, the new building is adjacent to the Frisco School of Music and The Musical Arts Schoolhouse, which are on the northwest corner of Preston Road and Main Street.
Frisco School of Performing Arts is providing much-needed additional space for several expanded programs as well as some additional classes, Duncan said.
"We are bursting at the seams," she said. "We have more than 900 after school and weekend students and parents keep asking for more."
The extra space will allow for an expansion of musical theater classes including acting, drama and audition preparation.
The business will offer pre-ballet classes for ages 3–6 as well as classes for teens and adults.
Rock band classes will now be able to move from their tight quarters into a bigger space in the new building as well, Duncan said.
New art classes, including drawing, cartooning and illustrating, will also have separate studio space.
