After opening five schools in fall 2014, Frisco ISD's construction schedule looks very similar for 2015.
Independence High School and four elementary schools—Hosp, McSpedden, Newman and Scott—opened to help provide for the nearly 49,000 students enrolled at FISD in the 2014–15 school year.
That brings the total number of FISD campuses to seven high schools, 13 middle schools and 37 elementary schools.
"Despite our continued growth, FISD remains dedicated to a smaller, personalized learning environment," said Anne McCausland, Frisco ISD board of trustees president. "We will continue to stay focused on the educational needs of our students and strengthen our partnership with parents as well as the community."
In fall 2015 FISD has plans to open Reedy High School—the district's third high school in three years—as well as Pearson and Trent m iddle s chool s and Norris Elementary School .
With estimates climbing as high as 66,000 FISD students by 2020, however, construction doesn't stop there. In the 2015–16 school year 55,807 students are projected and in the 2016–17 school year 58,928 students are projected to be enrolled.
Two schools are already planned for 2016, including the fourth high school in four years, Lebanon High School, as well as Lawler Middle School.
FISD went through a contentious process in the fall to draw new attendance zones to accommodate the schools opening in fall 2015. The rezoning process to accommodate schools opening in 2016 is expected to take place in late 2015.
