With 100 percent of precincts reporting, incumbent Kathy Handler was re-elected to the Position 1 seat on the Tomball ISD board of trustees by a significant margin over opponent Joseph Ferguson.
Handler received 75.7 percent, or 6,557 votes, while Ferguson earned 24.2 percent, or 2,096 votes.
"I just want to say I appreciate the support the entire TISD community gave me during the election," Handler said. "I met so many people from every part of the district, and that was very enjoyable."
Handler said her immediate plans are to focus on completing the district's strategic plan by January and receive community input to guide the future of TISD.
Ferguson said he congratulates Handler on her election victory and trusts she will continue to represent the best interests of the children in TISD.
"I would also like to express my admiration for a campaign that remained positive and stayed focused on the two candidates' strengths," Ferguson said. "It's a shame that more candidates in our country do not follow Mrs. Handler's example of how to disagree without being disagreeable."
Ferguson said he hopes to one day have an opportunity to serve alongside Handler on the TISD school board in the future.
