Frisco Family Services surpassed its goal to collect 60,000 pounds of food for its Feed Frisco campaign.

From July to Sept. 30, the nonprofit collected 85,531 pounds of food from the community.

The organization launched the campaign to restock its food pantry for the fall and winter months. Last year the pantry ran out of food because of an increase in the number of people visiting the pantry and a larger portion of food being allotted to each family, FFS spokeswoman Cynthia Allen said in a previous article.

The organization also sees fewer donations from Frisco ISD schools during the summer months because students are on summer break, FFS Executive Director Nicole Bursey said.

Bursey said the campaign was an overall success.

"It really provided an opportunity for the community to really get involved because preventing hunger really is a community effort," she said. "No one organization alone can do that."
