Chad Wright may not yet be a household name, but his print and design studio in Leander has crafted distinctive marketing campaigns for clients including the Greater Leander Chamber of Commerce, Leander ISD and churches from Austin to Fort Worth.
Wright said his advertising career launched when he began laying out newspaper ads at the age of 14 in his hometown, Weatherford, Texas.
"My mom had a small graphic design business, so I taught myself how to use—at the time it was [the desktop publishing software application] Pagemaker—and that allowed me to get a job doing that," Wright said.
Design work led to advertising, copywriting and creative leadership opportunities with newspapers and advertising firms, he said, and eventually the start of Chad Wright Creative as a part-time operation.
Wright and his family moved to Leander in 2005, and in 2006 Chad Wright Creative became a full-time business offering an array of print services—from business cards, letterhead and envelopes, brochures and door hangers to feather flags and yard signs. Wright's studio also offers poster and cook book photography as well as media kit design services.
Wright said since he does not utilize a traditional office setup, he is able to pass the savings on to his clients.
"Our goal is to take these small businesses that normally couldn't do work that good and show them that this is what's possible," Wright said. "Once [clients] see the quality of everything, they get really excited about it."
In 2014, Chad Wright Creative transitioned from a one-man operation to having three supporting professionals who help complete projects: designers Nathan Reeder and Adam Garrett and Project Manager Calla Walshe.
"Chad has taught me so much about being a designer here in Austin," Reeder said. "Learning from the wealth of his experiences has just been fantastic."
Leander expo sponsor
Chad Wright Creative is a title sponsor for the Living Leander Community Expo scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Premier Athletic Complex, 8220 Toll 183A, Leander. The annual event organized by the Greater Leander Chamber of Commerce showcases local businesses.
"We love being involved with the small-business community, and [the expo] is a really good way to get the community around these small businesses and expose them to [those businesses]," Wright said.
