The Frisco Economic Development Corp. has hired John Bonnot as the director of economic development. Bonnot has served as director of economic development/business recruitment for the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce since June 2002. His training and education includes completing several years of training through the Institute for Organization Management at Southern Methodist University and is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. "The pace in [the FEDC] office isn't just fast, we're operating at turbo speed right now," Jim Gandy, president of the FEDC, said in a statement. "John Bonnot brings more than 25 years of chamber and economic development expertise that will allow him to make a quick and successful transition to his new position. He will be a great ambassador not only for Frisco, but also for the entire Dallas/Fort Worth region." Bonnot will lead business attraction efforts, helping national and international businesses realize the benefits of relocating corporate headquarters or opening regional offices in Frisco. The position plays a key role in the FEDC's continued strategic mission of enhancing Frisco's quality of life through new job creation and expanding the commercial tax base. "I feel very honored to have been selected for the job because the FEDC operates an economic development program of the highest quality with a president and professional staff who are committed to service, performance and attaining results for the citizens and businesses of Frisco," Bonnot said in a statement. "Within our career field and industry, the FEDC is considered 'the pinnacle' for how an economic development corporation should operate and perform." The EDC will see another change in the near future. Darcy Schroer, the FEDC's marketing director, said Nancy Windham, the EDC vice president, is retiring this week and her position will be posted soon.
