Cloud Cap Restaurants LLC, the parent company to Mangia Pizza, purchased The Pizza Bistro, located at 12001 Burnet Road, in early June.

The company plans to convert the closed Pizza Bistro restaurant into a Mangia Pizza, which operated at the Burnet Road location from 2002–12 before it became The Pizza Bistro. Alori Properties is the landlord.

Cloud Cap Restaurants President Ray Bacon said the company had been discussing plans to purchase the property with Kress Childs—The Pizza Bistro's owner—for several months.

"We're excited about it because it was known for so many years as a Mangia [Pizza] location, and there is still quite a Mangia following in that area," Bacon said. "For us it made perfect sense because people know us."

Bacon said he hopes to open the new Mangia Pizza location in about one month from now after renovations are completed.

Mangia has a location at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and another location at 8012 Mesa Drive in Northwest Austin. In keeping consistency in the business, the new restaurant will have the same menu as the Mesa Drive location, he said.

"We will go in and change the interior of everything to match our motif at our current restaurant, but we are going back to focusing on Chicago-style pizza, salads, sandwiches, pastas, [the food that] people in Austin have enjoyed for 25 years," Bacon said.
