Beginning June 30, CoServ Electric will begin distribution power line upgrades as part of a larger project already underway on Main Street between Legacy Drive and FM 423.
According to the city's communication's department, the work is unrelated to the Brazos Electric transmission project.
CoServ said new power poles and lines are required to serve the general load needs of members in the area west of the Dallas North Tollway and north of Lebanon Road. The new poles will replace existing poles for an about 1.2-mile stretch of road on the south side of Main Street, from Legacy Drive to east of Calimar Drive to the entry of The Trails subdivision.
Co-Serv said the new circuits will eliminate conductor slapping and resist damage in sustained winds.
CoServ plans to have crews conducting standard prep work in front of The Trails in the next two to three weeks, and also on Main Street, doing preliminary work on the existing overhead line. This includes digging an underground vault and running a new line through existing infrastructure.
Unless the weather or other unforeseen circumstances delay it, the project is projected to be finished by early to mid-September.
