The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board recognized several individuals at its May 19 meeting that included three recently elected trustees and the inaugural graduating class of a program that trains employees to spread the word about the district.
The board canvassed the results of the May 10 general election and administered an oath of office to the winners: Jesse Rodriguez, Place 5; unchallenged incumbent Leon Leal, Place 6; and Jorge Rodriguez, Place 7. All were incumbents in their respective seats, and each were sworn in for three years.
GCISD trustees also honored the first graduating class of Champions, a group of 36 GCISD employees who were trained throughout the year to be communicators on behalf of the district.
During the meeting a few of the graduates were invited to speak about their experience.
"From the very first meeting, the mission of this program, and our purpose, was made crystal clear, and it was to go out and share the great things that our district is doing," said Carla Harrison-Ducros, a homebound teacher with the Department of Special Education.
