Construction started June 2 to improve three left-turn lanes on Capital of Texas Hwy., also known as Loop 360, in Northwest Austin. Crews will later make pavement improvements to the intersection near US 183.

The Texas Department of Transportation is extending three left-turn lanes to allow more space for drivers to safely make a turn without blocking the main lanes. Construction will continue for about a week, and crews will be working in the shoulders during the day to minimize the impact on traffic.

Turn lanes are currently 120–200 feet, but crews will be extending them by:

  • 1,200 feet at northbound Loop 360 and Spicewood Springs Road
  • 990 feet at southbound Loop 360 and Spicewood Springs Road
  • 665 feet at northbound Loop 360 and Bluffstone Drive

After finishing work on the left-turn lanes, crews will make pavement repairs at the intersection of Loop 360 and US 183. Weather permitting, work could begin by June 9. Construction will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and could take less than a week.
