Paul Johnson has defeated challenger Katherine Alexander in the May 27 Republican primary runoff election in the Denton County criminal district attorney race.

Johnson received 56 percent of the vote, or 11,771 votes, to Alexander's 44 percent of the vote, or 9,248 votes.

A total of 21,019 votes were cast and more than 12,023 of those were early votes.

Johnson has been the Denton County Criminal District Attorney for the last eight years.

Results are unofficial until the votes are canvassed.
