Members of Modern Woodmen of America said they hope more volunteers will join them on Join Hands Day at 9 a.m. May 3 at Twin Lakes Fellowship in Cedar Park.

Volunteers from the local chapter plan to mop floors and move furniture at the church, which hosts the Life Bridge Job Corps organization.

Linda Ayotte, project coordinator and financial representative with Modern Woodmen of America, said the group's mission is to improve local residents' lives with financial products and charitable activities.

"Volunteerism is a huge part of what we do," she said.

Modern Woodmen of America works with Austin Christian Fellowship Brushy Creek and Life Bridge Job Corps, a job-readiness training group that started in Cedar Park in January.

"They have a laundry list of things they need volunteer help with," Ayotte said.

Organizers said they hope to bring volunteers of all ages together for local service. Ayotte said she expects 20 volunteers to contribute at the church during the day. Interested volunteers can contact 512-250-0458 or show up at Twin Lakes Fellowship on May 3, she said.

In a statement, Modern Woodmen of America fraternal director Steve VanSpeybroeck said the group encourages help from any community organization.

"Modern Woodmen is proud of the thousands of volunteers nationwide who give back on Join Hands Day," VanSpeybroeck said.
