After having five different offices at the Lake Creek Office Park, Kristen Genchur knew she would need a permanent home for her business, Heart & Sole Massage.
She first opened the business in 2010 but had to keep moving offices to accommodate her growing client base.
On April 3, she launched a 40-day crowd funding campaign through Equity Endeavor to raise $10,000 to expand the business' services in a permanent location. Genchur said she decided to use crowd funding so the business would not be overwhelmed by any financial commitments or debt.
"We didn't want money to be an issue, and [we wanted] to continue to focus on our clients," Genchur said.
Through the video posted in the crowd funding site, Genchur explains how her business has not been accessible for people who use wheelchairs or have difficulty using stairs. She plans to move her business into the ground floor of the Spicewood Dermatology building at 13642 N. US 183.
The funding will allow Genchur to add a full-spectrum infrared sauna and therapeutic whirlpool in the new location and expand her services to include Russian sports massage and Thai massage, which is where the therapist assists the client in a stretching session.
She added that it was important to stay in the Northwest Austin area.
"We wanted to stay close to where we are now," she said.
