Area residents have kept the grill smoking at Jimmy Changas, said general manager George Tannous.
The location is the company's first in Katy and third in the Houston area.
The restaurant, which opened Nov. 19, serves a variety of appetizers, salads, soups and fresh grilled Mexican dishes, including beef and chicken fajitas and mahi-mahi.
"The feedback from the customers has been excellent so far," Tannous said. "We've had lots of family and friends here keeping us very busy."
Among Jimmy Changa's most popular offerings is the "Bad Daddy Chimi," which is a giant flour tortilla stuffed with fajita beef and cheese, smothered in queso, with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado ranch and sour cream ($11.49).
The restaurant's to-go department is also now up and running, Tannous said. Customers can call in their carry-out orders or make their orders in person. The restaurant has also prepared food for a variety of business meetings and gatherings. Plates of fajitas for lunch often can be ordered that morning, he said.
