Area community and business leaders said the American Airlines/US Airways merger has had little impact on local business.
The joining of American Airlines and US Airways became official on Dec. 9, but company leadership says it may take up to two years to complete.
RaDonna Hessel, the CEO of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, said the merger was good for the area.
"The good news is that it has been business as usual for our community," Hessel said. "If the merger hadn't have happened, it surely would have had a negative impact."
Doug Parker, the new American Airlines Group CEO, has been adamant that the merger would not create any layoffs or closures. American Airlines already had streamlined operations while in bankruptcy.
American officials have said there have been no major layoffs among the thousands of airline employees who live near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The two airlines and their regional carriers operate about 6,700 flights per day to 339 destinations in 54 countries. The airlines will be integrating 100,000 employees and 1,500 aircraft.
