Residents in the Willowbrook area have one more reason to not drive downtown for a night out. James Cole, manager of Revolver, a new gastropub off Hwy. 249, said he wants to bring Midtown to the suburbs.

Cole bills the venue's atmosphere as "sub-bourbon social"—a focus on high-end bourbons with the main market being the suburban residents of northwest Harris County.

"We felt there was a need for this type of establishment in the area," he said. "People don't want to drive 30 miles to hang out at a nice place."

Cole described the environment as relaxed and sophisticated, a mix of a few different concepts. It is a gastropub, but also has elements of a lounge, patio bar and a high-energy nightlife hangout on the weekends.

Revolver's bourbons and whiskeys are the calling card of its drink menu with options ranging from Wild Turkey to Jameson Gold. The food menu features appetizers, as well as salads, flatbreads, tacos and burgers.

Cole said he is preparing for a few upgrades in 2014. An 80-inch flatscreen TV will be installed on the patio in time for the Super Bowl. He also wants to extend the pub's hours to Sundays starting in the spring.
