The city of Austin posted draft policies and actions for the South Austin Combined Neighborhood Plan online Dec. 9 and is seeking feedback from residents of the Garrison Park, South Manchaca and Westgate neighborhoods.
Participants in the SACNP process have been meeting throughout 2013 to provide their feedback, and about 140 people attended an open house Dec. 7, city of Austin planner Francis Reilly said.
Now, the city is conducting a survey to collect additional feedback on the draft policies and actions, available at https://www.austintexas.gov/ department/south-austin- combined-neighborhood-plan. Feedback on that can be provided until Jan. 1, Reilly said.
A full draft of the plan is expected to be complete by early January.
"We'll take additional feedback on that and it will go to a couple of subcommittees of the planning commission first," he said, noting it could go to the Austin City Council for adoption this spring.
The SACNP, which is part of the Imagine Austin Comprehensive Plan the city adopted in June 2012 to direct Austin's growth and redevelopment for the next 30 years, aims to identify what residents in the neighborhoods like about their area and where they want to see development. Once adopted by City Council, the plan will become an amendment to Imagine Austin and guide future decision-making and capital improvements.
