Recognized online real estate brokerage Movoto Real Estate has named Frisco the best mid-size city to move to in the U.S.

The ranking is based on information gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau, Movoto's real estate listings for each city and from GreatSchools.org. Cities were ranked in six categories:

Number of homes for sale per capita

Cost of living index

Unemployment rate

Median household income

Crime rate rating

School quality rating

Movoto staff writer Natalie Grigson summed up Frisco's ranking.

"After averaging it all up, the winner, the very best mid-sized city to move to in the U.S., was Frisco, Texas," she said. "It is safe, it has a stellar school system, and a helluva yearly income. Perhaps that's why Frisco is one of the fastest-growing mid-sized cities in the country, or maybe it's the delightful ring to its name, or maybe it is simply because they are so darned friendly there (rated one of Forbes' friendliest cities, in fact!), but whatever the reason—and there are a lot to choose from—people are flocking to Frisco."

In the study McKinney is ranked second place to Frisco.

Rounding out the rest of the top 10 are:

Cary, N.C.

Pembroke Pines, Fla.

Cape Coral, Fla.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Overland Park, Kan.

Sioux Falls, S.D.

Naperville, Ill.

Olathe, Kan.
