As of the third Monday of the school year, Frisco ISD has 45,886 students enrolled for the 2013-14 school year—an addition of 3,258 students or 7.64 percent growth from the third Monday of the 2012-13 school year.

The number of students increased at all grade levels, but especially at the elementary schools.

"The fact that there are 1,100 more kindergarteners than seniors—this isn't going to slow down anytime soon," FISD Board of Trustees President Rene Ehmke said.

Four elementary schools, Ashley, Curtsinger, Mooneyham and Robertson, are past capacity and have been closed to enrollment. Phillips and Sem elementaries are serving as overflow campuses.

To relieve crowding, four elementary schools and one high school will be opened in 2014. One high school, a middle school and at least one elementary school are slated to open in 2015.

The redistricting process is expected to begin later this fall.
