The Frisco City Council has formed a Charter Review Commission and named 11 members to review and oversee possible changes to the city charter.

According to the current city charter, the charter must be reviewed every six years at the longest and no sooner than every two years. The last charter review was in 2009.

Frisco City Secretary Jenny Page said the commission is required to finish its review within a six-month period. The committee should be finished in late December or early January, which would allow time for a required public hearing on the changes.

The council could then, in February, call for a special May election in conjunction with the city's annual regular election.

City councilman Tim Nelson said there are two pages of items from council members and city staff members that need to be addressed, along with changes from the Texas Legislature's recent session.

Nelson said the timing is right for the Charter Review Commission, and the council agreed.

The 10 commissioners are chairman Bill Woodard, vice-chairman Ed Griffin, Tracie Shipman, Mike Zapata, Tracy Gamble, John Classe, Jason Hartgraves, Kristie Edwards, Will Russell and Bobby Roberti.

Alternates are Cheri Russell and Dody Brigadier.

The commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the City Hall meeting room, 5A.
