All the schools in Carroll ISD and all but one in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD achieved the highest of two rating in the Texas Education Agency's 2013 accountability ratings released this week.
A new rating system that uses indexes and a distinction designation replaced the old system that used descriptions such as exemplary and academically unacceptable. The ratings now are "Met Standard," "Met Alternative Standard" and "Improvement Required."
Both districts overall were rated "Met Standard."
According to the preliminary ratings on the TEA website, only Timberline Elementary in Grapevine was rated "Improvement Required."
Several schools in each district also earned distinctions in the ratings. The distinction designation recognizes outstanding academic achievement in reading-English language arts and math.
In the Grapevine district, the schools that earned distinctions in reading-English language arts were: Grapevine High School, Grapevine Middle School, Cross Timbers Middle School, Dove Elementary, O.C. Taylor Elementary, Bear Creek Elementary, Bransford Elementary and Glenhope Elementary.
For math, Grapevine High School and Glenhope Elementary earned distinctions.
In the Carroll district, distinctions in reading-English language arts were earned by Carroll Senior High School, Carroll High School, Jack D. Johnson Elementary School, Carroll Elementary, Walnut Grove Elementary, Rockenbaugh Elementary, Old Union Elementary and Eubanks Intermediate.
In math, distinction designations were given to: Carroll Senior High, Carroll High, George Dawson Middle School, Carroll Elementary, Old Union Elementary and Eubanks Intermediate.
