The county's election commission accepted the resignation of Rick Barron, the former election administrator, May 24 and decided on an approach to fill the position at a May 31 meeting.
Barron turned in his resignation May 15, after serving six years in the position, to take a job as director of registration and elections in Georgia.
"The opportunity in Atlanta is just one I just can't pass up," Barron said. "It's a step up, career-wise."
The election commission appointed Kay Eastes on May 24 as the interim administrator effective June 10.
Ads for the position will be posted on the Williamson County; Texas Association of Counties; National Association of Election Officers; and National Association of County Recorders, Election Officers and Clerks websites.
County Judge Dan Gattis said the commission hopes to fill the seat as soon as possible.
