Round Rock ISD is accepting applications for a trustee position online and by mail until May 6 in order to replace board Secretary Glen Colby, who announced his resignation April 5.

Those who submit by mail may send applications to the Round Rock ISD Administration Building, 1311 Round Rock Ave. To be considered for a board member position, applicants must: be registered to vote, be a U.S citizen, be at least age 18, have not been determined mentally incapacitated by the courts, have not been convicted of a felony, be a Texas resident for at least 12 months and a resident of Round Rock ISD for at least six months.

Each trustee will choose one person from the submitted applications for further consideration who will be interviewed by the board of trustees.

At an April 9 board meeting, trustee Diane Cox recommended choosing a candidate who is knowledgeable about the district.

"Certainly we're going into a superintendent search, so we want to make sure that it's somebody that will not have a big learning curve," Cox said.
