The county's countywide polling place program, or vote centers, application was approved by the Texas secretary of state's office in March.

The county will begin the program with the May 11 elections. Unlike a precinct polling location that requires voters to be registered at that location, vote centers are open to any registered voter. County commissioners approved the program at their Feb. 19 meeting.
