After a presentation by consultants at the March 12 City Council meeting outlining possible uses for the former Albertsons building, council voted to postpone a market analysis, financial analysis and traffic impact analysis for the site.

The city purchased the former grocery store building in 2008 for possible use as a police headquarters.

In August, City Council directed staff to conduct a feasibility study for alternative uses of the building. Ron Hobbs Architects of Garland was selected to complete the study. The General Government and Finance Committee recommended the additional studies to determine if the project would be viable as well as potential operating costs and related revenue, according to city documents.
