On March 26, City Council approved three water-related ordinances that amend the drought contingency plan, the tiered water rate structure and create a general water ordinance.

The new water ordinance will make the three-day irrigation schedule the standard watering schedule and remove the three-day language from the drought contingency plan. The three-day per week schedule has already been in place for two years, Georgetown Utility Director Glenn Dishong said.

The changes would also put the current tiered rate structure in effect year-round and keep the current rates in place. However, proposed changes could be made during City Council's budget process in late summer or early fall.
