- The DFW Connector — The $985 million project left Main Street less accessible for much of the year.
- Expansion of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine — The $100.5 million patient tower was under construction all year.
- Bond election — Voters approved almost $69 million in bonds for a new public safety building and expansion of the Community Activities Center.

Terms and compensation
The mayor and council serve three-year terms with no term limits and with monthly stipends (mayor $410.61 monthly, council $212.75). The council has until February to set a date for an election deciding whether to limit terms of the council and mayor.
