With permanent work completed on several major thoroughfares in the DFW Connector project, motorists driving in and through the Grapevine area are starting to get some relief, as the project heads for completion this summer.

NorthGate Constructors spokeswoman Kristen Schropp said the Connector should be done by July, a year ahead of schedule.

No lane closures are scheduled from noon Dec. 22 to 8 p.m. Dec. 27, and from noon Dec. 30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 2.

These parts are completed except for permanent striping, signals and other smaller aspects:

Main Street has three northbound and three southbound lanes, with U-turns on either side of the bridge.

U-turns are open on the west side of William D. Tate Avenue and the Northwest Highway/Southlake Boulevard bridge.

The new, two-lane eastbound frontage road of Hwy. 114 from Main Street to Texan Trail is open.

Work is continuing north of DFW International Airport, where additional funding was approved. The $32 million provided last year by the North Texas Council of Governments is building the Main Street frontage road bypass, among other projects, said Lisa Walzl of the Texas Department of Transportation.

For up-to-date lane closure and other information, visit the Connector website, www.dfwconnector.com, or download the free DFW Connector app for Android or iPhone.

The app and website allow motorists to plan commutes around scheduled closures.
