Nearly 3,000 voters in Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake went to early voting locations Monday, bringing the total in Tarrant County to a record-setting 30,137.
"It was the highest number on a first day, but overall as well," Elections Administrator Steve Raborn said today. The countywide turnout on the first day of early voting in the last general election in 2008 was 28,757.
The heated presidential election tops the ballot, which also holds a slew of Congressional, legislative and local races, plus two bond propositions in Grapevine (note when you go to vote that those two are at the bottom of the ballot.)
The countywide turnout Monday compares to 28,757 in 2008.
In Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake (Westlake does not have an early voting location), the numbers Monday and in 2008:
- Colleyville: 828 compared to 516 in 2008
- Grapevine 1,073 compared to 985
- Southlake: 1,087 compared to 789.
In 2008, more than 8 million of the state's nearly 14 million registered voters—or 59.5 percent of registered voters—cast their ballots, according the Texas Secretary of State's Office.
In the 2012 presidential primaries in May, slightly more than 16 percent of the state's registered voters cast their ballots.

- Southlake Town Hall, 1400 Main St.
Locations are open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through Friday; 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday; and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Nov. 2.
