Round Rock ISD Superintendent Jess Chvez announced future plans for the district, including renovations, new additions and a possible bond election in 2013, at his state of the district address Oct. 3.

During the address he provided an update on various facility projects:

Construction for phase three at Round Rock High School to add two wings has been approved by the board and will be completed in 2014.

The west transportation facility is under construction and set to open in January 2013.

Success High School is scheduled to open in summer 2014. The board of trustees approved construction of the school Aug. 7 after purchasing land on Gattis School Road near I-35.

The board will search for a bond study committee in January 2013. The potential bond election could take place in November 2013 and could include building a second performing arts center and a new middle school.

Chvez said financially the district is strong, with a current fund balance of $30 million.

"It's not a situation that was created overnight," he said. "As a matter of fact, it took 20 years to build a fund balance that we currently have. The fund balance has served us well in a number of ways."
